I am involved in the brainstorming, selection, creation and production of print projects.
Founded almost forty years ago, L’Académie de Danse Classique (LADC) is a ballet and contemporary dance studio in Lachine, QC. I have had the absolute pleasure of working alongside the studio’s current artistic director to further the graphic image of the studio. I developed their logo and have created a series of graphic work, including posters, tickets, and booklets, for their performances over the past three years. I continue to work with the studio to produce their visual content.
If you would like to know more about LADC, you can visit their site here.
The Sonia Balazovjech Dance Company (SBDC) is a “non-profit organization that uses dance as a powerful tool to raise awareness and funds for charitable organizations” throughout Montreal’s communities.
I am currently a dancer for SBDC Montreal but have also been involved with the company beforehand to help assist and coordinate their professional-quality events. I have coordinated the ticket sales/collection of funds, directed teams of volunteers, developed graphic work for print and social media, and assisted with website updates. My involvement with SBDC Montreal has grown strong since becoming one of their dancers, which allows me to continuously contribute my knowledge in communications and design.

From 2011 to 2015, I was a full-time volunteer for TOPS Performance Education, a non-profit organization developed by the Lester B. Pearson School Board. TOPS (Truly Outstanding Pearson Show) allowed high school students from across the public school board to audition and participate in an annual, professional-quality, talent show.
Throughout these years, I worked alongside a small team of passionate individuals. We ran rehearsals each Saturday for four months to provide an exciting and fresh environment between students, and to produce a unique show and experience. Preparations for the show were year round.
I started as Dance Coordinator, which included auditioning and selecting dancers as well as organizing the choreographers and dance teams throughout the rehearsals and shows. At this time, I also choreographed and visualized performances. As I gained more experience, I became responsible for the costume design of each act, which included visualizing, selecting and buying clothing as well as designing and crafting costume pieces and props. I ended my time at TOPS as Creative Director with a responsibility for the overall appearance and communications of the production. In this position, I also coordinated the production team meetings and delegated responsibilities and tasks. Furthermore, I developed, designed and maintained the website during my years involved. I also created multiple graphics for the show, such as logos, posters and programs.
Since the show is no longer ongoing, the website has been taken down and files lost. You can view part of the web design in the image provided. The website was entirely hand-coded and included interactive elements such as a private section for students that required correct login information.
RMIT University (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) has a well-developed and inclusive program to welcome all international students, which is called RMIT Global.
Each semester RMIT Global hires a handful of international students to document their experience and share why RMIT is an excellent choice for studies abroad. You can view my video application below; I was accepted into this position and used Instagram and Google+ as my tools. At this time, I was also selected by Factorie and Typo, an Australian fashion and decor company, to create promotional images of their products for social media.
I have diverse experience working with clients on small design projects. You can view some of these projects below.
Argento is a Montreal rapper who has collaborated with several pop culture artists. I created this logo a few years ago to kickstart his branding.
Dixit Communications is a local company out of Lachine, QC, that works alongside elders to develop media that encaptures their life story. “Dixit” is a french/english word play, which translates to “say it”. The “x” in “Dixit” is a play off of french quotation marks.
Secure Vision is a freelance company that focuses on identity and access management, and security consulting. I designed and developed their logo in 2018.
I created this badge for the FC-141 class from the Institut de protection contre les incendies du Québec (IPIQ) to use on their uniform.
Studio Transcendance was a dance studio in the West Island community. I designed and developed their website in 2016. Unfortunately the studio has closed so the website is no longer live. It was a fully hand-coded website with a single page scroll, similar to this portfolio site.
In Communications Studies at Concordia University, I had the opportunity to further my creativity and explore the intrinsic conversations between myself, my output, and my viewership. I created various projects individually and in teams. My production focus was Intermedia, which included installation, video, animation, zine works and more.
This project was to write an essay and design a zine layout about an intermedial exhibit in Montreal. My partner and I chose Sandy Ding's "Dream Enclosure". I created the design and my partner wrote the essay. Myself and three other students were selected to create a book of every student's zines. I was responsible for the layout design and organization.
The purpose of this video was to use film techniques such as synced sound and dramatic lighting. Its message is along the lines of feeling out of place in your own skin. It was a team project; I was the dancer and assisted in post-production.
The topic of this assignment was 'time' and the task was to conceptualize that in any intermedial form. My team created this installation piece to highlight the stillness of various living beings. We all equally contributed to this piece; I idealized and directed the visual components.
The purpose of this assignment was to create a stop motion animation. My partner and I used stop motion and digital animation techniques to create this video. It was an equal partnership through pre, production, and post.
This was my final assignment for Intermedia II, which was a free-for-all technically and conceptually. My partner and I decided to focus on consumer culture, textile waste and the fast fashion industry through this installation piece. We highlighted its glorification with the look and shape of the garment and commented on its pollution and negative environmental impact with the materials used and factual information provided.
The purpose of this first assignment in Intermedia III was to reimagine a cinemagraph by focusing on the concept of speed. My cinegraph opposes speed to highlight the sticky perception that prolonging dullness and repetition can create.
The second assignment in this course was to create a short animation that conceptualizes scale. My animation discusses scale in regards to human population and urban growth versus the natural environment and our planet's purpose. This animation was created through the perception of the flower to highlight the extent of Earth's power and the insignificance of humanity in comparison.
The final project for this course was open technically and conceptually. I did a performative piece focusing on the output of movement with the connection between body, mind and spirit.
Laurice D. Nemetz discusses how "dance is, at its most basic level, a way of being human in the present. [...] That is why it is critical never to judge personal or cultural dance, but to always understand that expression as an honest piece of self-illumination" (2006).
My piece was about engaging in the present moment and expressing my inner-self. My movement was improvised and created through the emotions I was experiencing in that moment, through the atmosphere and language of the music. The curtain blocked the view of the audience, representing that I am in my own moment, performing for myself, not for a show. I am excluding a video of the performance due to its momentary value.
This video was created for a final project in my Alternative Media course and discusses the meaning of language within Montreal. I attempt to subvert the emotional struggle the Québécois people continue to face by applying it to the situation of the Indigenous culture. The French fear loss of their language, by the English, but they also played a large part in the loss of the Kanien’keha:ka language. I use the visuals to let the viewer realize our focus on colonial culture. I use the audio to subvert the meaning of these symbols by bringing light onto other linguistic struggles in the same space.
At John Abbott College, I studied Graphic and Web Design, previously known as Publication Design and Hypermedia Technology. This technically-focused program included a multitude of print work from posters, to manuals, to album cases; several graphic creations such as logos and typographical art; and many interactive programming projects including mini computer games and full websites. We were taught coding languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP and JS; each program in the Adobe Creative Suite series for design; and the technical aspects of the printing process. In its entirety, we were given the tools and knowledge to produce flawless work independently.
I have had the privilege to travel to various places around the world. In this section, you will get to know me a bit more personally through my travel experiences with edited video footage.
Here you can view my recreational photography and analyze what draws attention to my eye. In my opinion, photography is not about capturing an object that has already been seen by many but capturing a moment to allow viewers to see something they would normally miss.
